These are some views of ducting between a ducon slab and a metal frame ceiling .
its important to allow an adequate void for ducting and other services. i would recommend a minimum of 150 mm.
This a typical finished connection to the metal frame.
These are 2 units recently installed in a house in Kinsale. They are in a thight attic space accessible by a step ladder.
This is a unit installed in a small plant room in a house in Donaghmore.
The reason i show this is that the more accessible the unit is the more likely the filters will be checked and cleaned. If the filters are not cleaned regularly (4-6 weeks) and changed annually then dirt will build up and cause a restiction to the air flow and wiil eventually dammage the fan motors. It is worth taking your time when choosing a location.
These are 2 units placed in a thight attic space, there is still easy access to the units through an attic hatch, but it still involves getting a ladder to get to them
This is a unit in a small plant room in a house in Donaghmore, it has very easy to access.
The point i am trying to make is that the easier it is to get access to the unit the more likely that basic maintenance will be done. People are more likely to check and clean the filters regularly if the unit is located in a utility, plant room or garage than if it is placed in an attic.
This is a recently installed unit which is nicely hidden in a built in unit in a utility room
/> The Type of supply air vent is crucial to the way the air is dispersed in a room. With a HRV system you should feel the freshness in a house but not any draughts. The picture below shows a proper supply air vent, this vent push the air across the ceiling , so even if you sat directly under the vent you would not feel any air. There is nothing more uncomfortable than feel a draft of air while in your bed or in your sitting room. Many suppliers use a standard extract vent because they are cheaper but they allow the air to blow straight down from the vent, if you are trying to sit or sleep under this, it will be very annoying.
This is 2 views of a ceiling mounted manifold in plant room of a house. All the ducts from the various rooms are brought back to the manifolds and will be connected to the unit. this will allow for an even distribution of the Air through out the house and will eliminate all possibility of noise travelling from one room to another.
recently finished HRV system with the 2 ducts on the right going to the supply and return air manifolds for the house and the 2 ducts on the left going to the external vents in the roof
